Biography

Brad graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1974. He began clerking for the Bellamy Law Firm the summer before beginning law school and continued clerking with the law firm during law school. Upon graduating in 1974, Brad began working with the Bellamy Law Firm in its real estate and appellate practice areas. Brad is a shareholder in the law firm and serves on its Executive Board and as Corporate Secretary. He is a member of the Horry County Bar Association and the South Carolina Bar Association.

Brad was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 3, 1949. Brad grew up in Myrtle Beach and has many community ties. He has served as president and a director of Habitat for Humanity of Horry County, helping Habitat for Humanity of Horry County grow into an organization that has now built over one hundred homes in the community. He serves as legal counsel for The Center for Women and Children, Inc. which is a non-profit organization providing rehabilitation programs, GED programs, job programs and a safe place for women and their children to live while trying to leave the adult entertainment industry.

Brad was a member of the Myrtle Beach Sertoma Club and a member and organizer of the Grand Strand Optimist Club. He has volunteered for United Way and the Burroughs and Chapin Art Museum. He has provided pro bono legal services to many area churches. Brad is a charter member of Ocean View Baptist Church and served the church as vice chairman of the deacons, men’s Sunday school teacher, youth department leader, Sunday school teacher, and as chairperson of the stewardship and personnel committees. He has established a foundation in his church providing Christian counseling to members of the community that would not otherwise have access to counseling.
