Biography

David was born in Washington, North Carolina in 1947. In 1960, David moved with his family to Myrtle Beach, where his father had accepted the position of Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church. David graduated from Presbyterian College in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration/Accounting. In 1972, David graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he was a member of the South Carolina Law Review and Phi Delta Phi Honor Society.

After graduation David returned to Myrtle Beach to join the Bellamy Law Firm, which, at that time, was known as Bellamy, Rutenberg, Epps & Gravely. David practices almost exclusively in domestic law, including divorce, equitable division, alimony, custody, child support, and adoption. David is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a member of the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association, and member of the Horry County and South Carolina Bar Associations. David also serves on the Horry County Family Court Advisory Committee.

David has been actively involved in and devoted to numerous civic and religious organizations. He was a graduate of Leadership Grand Strand and Jaycee’s Young Man of the Year in 1982. He has served as President of the Horry County United Way, Grand Sertoma Club, and the Dunes Golf and Beach Club. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Burroughs-Chapin Art Museum, Dunes Golf and Beach Club, and Coastal Educational Foundation. David has also served three terms in the Vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church.

When not practicing law, David enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, and playing golf.
