Biography

John was born in Batesburg, South Carolina and aside from his time in college and the Army Reserves, he has lived in Myrtle Beach since he was three years old. John graduated from Wofford College in 1963. While there, John served as President of Kappa Sigma fraternity and majored in economics. John graduated from University of South Carolina School of Law in 1966. During his time in law school, John was an active member of the Calhoun Inn of Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity.

John joined the Bellamy Law Firm in 1976, and his practice involves representing property owners and banks in foreclosure matters and commercial litigation representing homebuyers and developers of commercial and residential development projects. John is a member of the Horry County and South Carolina Bar Associations.

John has served as Chairman of the Committee on Professional Responsibility of the South Carolina Bar, as a former City Attorney for the City of Myrtle Beach, and as a member of the Resolution of Fee Disputes Board and the Board of Commissioners on Grievance and Discipline of the South Carolina Bar. John has also served as a board member of the Dunes Golf and Beach Club and the Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach. He is an active member of the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.

John and his wife Chris are active members of Trinity Episcopal Church in Myrtle Beach, where John has served as a member of the Vestry four times. When not practicing law John enjoys golfing and fishing.
