Phillip practices in the areas of taxation, mergers & acquisitions, corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, estate planning, probate administration, banking, tax controversy, real estate planning, state and local taxation, and business incentives. He received a Master of Laws in Taxation and has since been named a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law, a distinction awarded by the Supreme Court of South Carolina. In his practice, Phillip represents various entities on such diverse matters as the purchase and sale of businesses, shareholder agreements, operating agreements, shareholder buyouts, executive compensation arrangements, and business succession planning. He works with individual clients on income and estate planning matters in the formulation and implementation of strategies to protect and preserve assets, minimize estate and gift taxes, and provide for an effective plan of transferring assets from one generation to the next using wills, trusts, and family entities.
