Biography

W. Joseph Cunningham was born in Fayetteville, Tennessee in 1975. At the age of thirteen, he moved to Myrtle Beach and attended Myrtle Beach High School, graduating in 1993.

W. Joseph Cunningham then attended the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, graduating in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

While in law school at the University of South Carolina School of Law, W. Joseph Cunningham clerked for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, Office of General Counsel, and the law firm of Austin, Lewis & Rogers, P.A., where he worked on various cases involving a variety of environmental and regulatory issues. W. Joseph Cunningham was the Social and Alumni Chair for the Southeastern Environmental Law Journal, a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, and the recipient of the Roy Webster Scholarship.

W. Joseph Cunningham has been with the Bellamy Law Firm since April 2004, and has spent the majority of his time working with real estate developers in commercial and residential real estate development. W. Joseph Cunningham also works with all types of real estate closings, landlord/tenant matters, foreclosures, and the representation of homeowner’s associations.

Recently, W. Joseph Cunningham moved his practice to the firm’s Ocean Isle, North Carolina location, where he continues to represent real estate developers, lenders, purchasers, sellers, lessors and lessees of all types of real estate in both North and South Carolina, on a variety of legal matters.

In his free time, Joe enjoys running, surfing, cooking, and participating in all manner of shooting sports. He also serves on the board of directors of the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce as well as the board of directors of Shoreline Behavioral Health Services, and is a member of the Grand Strand Sertoma Club, Horry County Wildlife Action, the Myrtle Beach Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation,and Brunswick County’s’ Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Network, Home Builder’s Association, and the Brunswick County Association of Realtors. Joe also volunteers with Brunswick County Communities in Schools, assisting with their Teen Court program.
